Mastercard, a leading global fintech company, envisioned The Bond Room as a futuristic and immersive space where clients could explore their technology and security solutions. The room’s physical design and demo content were developed in-house by the Frontline Experience and 3D teams, combining design aesthetics inspired by Star Trek and James Bond. This fusion created a unique atmosphere that seamlessly integrated demo stations while enveloping visitors in the world of Mastercard’s cybersecurity services.

The Challenge

The design team expertly blended future-facing design aesthetics to create an extraordinary environment within Mastercard’s new UK HQ in London, called The Bond Room. Infusing sophistication with elegance, the room featured refined material finishes and subtle details that exuded a sense of style and sophistication. This integration brought a touch of class and intrigue to the overall ambiance, enhanced by wrap-around interactive LED lighting effects. Complemented by the sleek lines, futuristic shapes, and high-tech features that were incorporated into the room’s design, adding a sense of technological advancement and a touch of interstellar wonder.

The Solutions

Within this harmonious blend of design aesthetics, The Bond Room featured a series of immersive demos:

Demo 1: Safety Net Simulation: The main screen of The Bond Room presented an immersive simulation illustrating how Safety Net, Mastercard’s global tool, effectively mitigates the impact of cyber attacks on banks and processors. Visitors witnessed first-hand the powerful defense mechanisms that safeguarded financial institutions.

Demo 2: Looking Glass Holographic Display: Leveraging a looking glass holographic display, this demo showcased the physical card, its materials, and the innovative technology within, immersing visitors in the futuristic world of the seemingly humble credit card.

Demo 3: Interactive Holographic Box Display: Visitors engaged with a holographic box display, allowing them to interact with a 3D model and explore the intricate materials inside. This captivating experience demonstrated the practical application of Mastercard’s advanced security solutions.

Demo 4: Microsoft Hololens Phish AR experience: Big Group designed a demo to showcase the PhishAR technology developed by Oxford University, which scans screens for malicious content. The Microsoft HoloLens application identified red flag elements in five fictional web pages and emails, warning users not to interact further. Applying AI to AR creates systems that see, understand and augment users’ judgement about the security of their environment.

The Results

The unique fusion of aesthetics within The Bond Room yielded remarkable results:

Immersive Atmosphere: The combined design elements created an immersive atmosphere, transporting visitors into a world where futuristic technology and sophisticated elegance coexist.

Memorable Experience: The carefully curated ambiance left a lasting impression on clients and visitors, instilling a sense of awe and excitement while fostering trust in Mastercard’s cutting-edge technology and security solutions.

The Bond Room stands as a testament to Mastercard’s commitment to innovation, security leadership, and captivating experiences. By seamlessly blending Star Trek and James Bond aesthetics, Mastercard has created a one-of-a-kind environment that showcases their expertise, inspires trust, and leaves a lasting impression on all who enter.
